Black soil with brash, containing iron, magnesium and calcium. Warm, semi-dry soil where a cool airflow at night ensures necessary cooling in order to achieve the perfect fruit-content and structure of Burgundy varieties.

Chernozem with sand, medium dempt soil. The deeper one digs the more claier the subsoil gets. Because of these characteristics in this area grow fullbodied

redwines and complex sweetwines.

HOLLABERN

Black soil with some clay. Semi-clammy soil with good nutrient storage effect.  These characteristics, guarantee very fruity wines.

Chernozem with a lot of organic humus, with good nutrient starage effect. These characteristics guarantee very strong and full-bodied wines.

RÖMERSTEIN   (ILLMITZ)

Black soil with brash, containing a lot of iron and magnesium but almost no carbonat. Warm dry soil, where the Stones warm up in the sun during the day and release this warmness at night.
